Carbon Plus Compost’s premium organic compost is available throughout Brisbane and Southeast Queensland, offering a superior solution for improving existing soil quality and encouraging vigorous plant growth. Sourced from the highest quality organic materials, this compost is produced under strict environmental standards, ensuring that it improves crop yield and promotes sustainable agricultural practices for a range of large-scale projects.
The science: how it works
Our enriched organic compost is a mixture of recycled organic materials that have been processed by natural organisms and broken down into a usable form. Most growers and producers are wary of normal compost products as it can be the source of microbial, chemical and physical contamination, including human pathogens, heavy metals in sewage sludge, plastics left in green bins, and more.
Carbon Plus Compost understands these concerns of growers and producers, which is why we have gone to the following lengths to safeguard the quality of our enriched compost:
Nitrogen drawdown occurs when nitrogen becomes unavailable to plants due to high levels of raw carbon present in the soil and surrounding organic matter.
All Carbon Plus Compost products have been through a full composting cycle that ensures there will be minimal nitrogen drawdown, with the product benefits lasting up to three years.

Compost has many benefits for soil. It can;
However, compost is also a potential source of microbial, chemical, and physical contamination. Human pathogens in manure, heavy metals in sewage sludge and plastics left in green waste bins all have the potential to contaminate growing sites and fresh produce. Growers may therefore be reluctant to use compost, despite its potential benefits, because of concerns about how it could affect the safety of the food they grow.
Carbon Plus Compost understands the concerns of growers and producers, and we have gone to extreme lengths to safeguard the quality of our agricultural grade compost. Here’s how;
Our Agricultural Compost is AS4454 certified, and we are Freshcare recognised supplier.
Growers and farmers utilising our premium compost, are in some applications, achieving up to a 25% increase in yield, post application. Every step of the Carbon Plus Compost is rigorously inspected and managed to ensure a top tier, nutrient dense compost.
That’s the Carbon Plus Compost difference.
Nitrogen drawdown occurs when nitrogen becomes unavailable to plants due to high levels of non-composted carbon materials present in the soil, such as sawdust or wood chips. With Carbon Plus premium compost, our mulch has been through a full composting cycle that ensures there will be no nitrogen drawdown, with the product lasting up to 3 years.
This meticulous composting process means that when you apply Carbon Plus compost and mulch to your plants, you are getting the most efficient uptake of high-quality nutrients. No matter where you are in Queensland or Northern New South Wales, you know you’re getting a fully matured, high-grade compost product for your plants.
Nitrogen drawdown is a phenomenon that occurs when nitrogen in the soil becomes temporarily unavailable to plants. This typically happens when there is a high level of raw carbon, such as from freshly added organic matter like straw, wood chips, or other plant residues, in the soil. Microorganisms in the soil use nitrogen as they break down this carbon-rich material.
As these microorganisms consume the nitrogen for their metabolic processes, the amount of nitrogen available to plants decreases, leading to a deficiency. This nitrogen "drawdown" can limit plant growth until the organic material is sufficiently decomposed, and the nitrogen becomes available again.
In essence, nitrogen drawdown is a temporary imbalance in the soil's nutrient availability caused by the decomposition of high-carbon organic matter.
